Fulton Armory Enhanced M14 SOCOM Systems “…In keeping with the custom nature of the MCS, we contacted Fulton Armory to determine if they had any interest in producing a Modular Combat Rifle incorporating the Troy MCS. The result is the Fulton Armory/Troy Industries Modular Combat Rifle (MCR). Clint McKee, owner of Fulton Armory, is a very though minded individual whose standards for his products are incredibly high and uncompromising. When we made our proposal, Clint stated that he would reserve judgment until he saw Troy’s MCS. Clint refuses to use anything but original GI or MILSPEC components in Fulton Armory M14s, M1 Garands, or M1 Carbines and while Fulton Armory rifles cost more than others, theirs are as close as possible to an original military rifle, so when we shipped the Troy MCS to Clint, we were a little apprehensive and weren’t prepared for his overwhelmingly positive reaction. Within a week, we had our Fulton Armory/Troy Industries Modular Combat Rifle and if it isn’t the ultimate M14, we don’t know what is! “…Shooting is the acid test, and the Fulton Armory/Troy MCR lives up to its claims. Felt recoil was notably less than we are used to on a standard configuration M14/M1As. The MCS stock minimizes muzzle rise and felt recoil while enhancing control and capability for quick follow up shots. The two stage trigger is match quality and as we are fond of saying about really good triggers, breaks like the proverbial “glass rod” without creep or backlash at precisely 4.5 pounds. The Fulton Armory/Troy MCR functioned flawlessly, with shells ejected almost straight out from the receiver at a downward angle. “…Fulton Armory and Troy Industries have truly redefined the concept of a modular M14 for military, law enforcement tactical teams or anyone who wishes to own what is probably the ultimate all-around M14/M1A rifle for defense or just fun shooting. The Fulton Armory/Troy Industries Modular Combat Rifle has everything a tactical M14 user could ask – superb quality, accuracy, flexibility, ballistics and for law enforcement, tactical utility.”

Citadel99 June 6, 2004, 08:58 AM So, I’m wanting to get an optic for my M4gery. I also plan on strapping it to my M4 when I head off to Iraq this fall. So ruggedness, battery life, and all those little things that go hand in hand with having a weapon on your person 24/7/365 come in to play. I’m pretty much set on one of these two options. I’ve used an Aimpoint and really it. Never had the chance to use the EOTech, though… Thanks in advance, Mark dave3006 June 6, 2004, 09:23 AM I bought the EOtech and returned it. I own the Aimpoint Comp ML2. The EOtech was too big. It was like having a big screen TV mounted to my gun. The controls were slow and not intuitive. I did not like the busy circle/dot reticle. Batteries are really not an issue. You can leave the Aimpoint on for a year. greenmountaingear June 6, 2004, 09:59 AM EO TECH hands down. I dumped my Aimpoint shortly after buying a 552 EOtech . Liked the EO some much that I became a dist/dealer for them! Wouldn’t use anything else now. Rev.F 552’s have about 1000+hrs on a couple “AA”’s. Never had any issues with any model I’ve owned and could acquire my targets far faster than with the aimpoint. Comes down to what works for you though Ever board has at least 6 of these threads, 120pages long…EO vs. Aimpoint. LOL! If ya ever need an EO or info, drop me a line! GMG Hutch June 6, 2004, 10:27 AM Well, glad you two guys cleared that up for me!!! Somebody else wade in and break the tie. N3rday June 6, 2004, 12:39 PM http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=164971 This topic has known to start flame wars…its all just personal preference. You might buy an EOtech, fall in love with it, and then finally use an Aimpoint and discover you like it better. To each his own. Just see if you can find some folks who would let you shoot theirs. MaceWindu June 6, 2004, 02:47 PM I like the Eotech….cheap and easily replaced batteries, great HUD, VERY accurate. Here is the EOtech 552 on top of my Custom mini…. http://img62.photobucket.com/albums/v188/Triggerman/ASIside001.bmp http://img62.photobucket.com/albums/v188/Triggerman/ASItarget001.bmp That is a dime for reference @ 80yrds. There are 3 separate groups there….EoTech gets my vote…. MaceWindu Blackhawk 6 June 6, 2004, 07:46 PM The EOtech is a good sight but of the two, has significantly more reliability issues. The Aimpoint is an excellent sight and holds up well under the rigors of military use. My recommendation is to go with the M-68. 444 June 6, 2004, 09:35 PM This question often inspires more than a few emotional responses. I prefer the Aimpoint. I have never owned an Eotech, but one of my best friends has one, so I am pretty familiar with it. I have shot his enough to know that I like mine better. More than one person in the know agrees with me. For example: Pat Rogers considers the Aimpoint to be clearly superior. warrior23 June 6, 2004, 10:29 PM Lets just say you cant go wrong with either site. Both are great sites my EOtech I feel is a little quicker in CQB,My Aimpoint works better for me at longer distances. So do what I did and buy Both! Rocko June 7, 2004, 12:03 PM I have both the EOtech 511 and the Aimpoint Comp M. While I like both, I feel that the EOtech is basically more advanced – at least from a user perspective if not a technical perspective. While the EOtech is a bigger, this also allows for a greater FOV – I don’t really even notice the housing of the EOtech as I do the tube on the aimpoint. From a total cost perspective on a flattop AR, the EOtech is also almost always going to win, as you don’t need to purchase a separate mount for it. The battery life issue was addressed in revision F, but I believe these are in short supply right now, which probably won’t change anytime soon. EOtech was just awarded a large contract for the SOPMOD2 project (along with Eclan and Trijicon) so most new production will likely be focused on that. Interestingly, Aimpoint, was NOT awarded part of that contract – reinforcing my idea that while both are good, the EOtech is the “new” while Aimpoint the “old”.
Aimpoint– the world leader in reflex sight technology now uses its latest “Advanced Circuit Efficiency Technology” (ACET) in the CompC3 sight. Further reduced current consumption, combined with Aimpoint’s tuned lens coating technology, make for the clearest view, with the brightest dot reticle, and longest battery life ever achieved– 50,000 hours on setting 7 out of 10. Aimpoint also provides the greatest range of dot brightness on the market– from very dim, for low light shooting, to extra bright. The finest resolution of the human eye is generally considered to be about 1 minute of angle, so the new 2 M.O.A. dot reticle is nearly infinitesimal, allowing for easier precision shooting at greater distances. The 4 M.O.A. dot is considered to be the best for all-around shooting and faster targeting. The windage and elevation adjustment access caps are tethered for your convenience. Aimpoint CompC3 Reflex Sight Shown here on a Ruger Mini-30 carbine (cal. 7.62 x 39 mm) with the UltiMAK M5-B optic mount, this sight is ideal when a short mounting base is required, as the total length of the sight is only 4.9″. This makes the CompC3 particularly desirable whenever light weight and compactness are a priority, such as for use on a “scout” rifle, carbine, or competition pistol. UltiMAK mounts provide an ideal platform for this sight.

Note that the silencer definition applies only to devices for firearms, i.e. powered by an “explosive”. An air gun silencer is not covered. But if it can be used on a firearm it would be. Thus an airgun silencer permanently attached to the airgun, or too flimsy to be used on a firearm, should be exempt. If you have an interest in pursuing this line of thought submit a sample or drawings to ATF Tech. Branch. I am not aware of any airgun silencer currently made, or determined to be exempt from this definition. But clearly there is room under the definition for such a gadget. Likewise, since antique guns, as defined in the GCA are not “firearms”, a silencer for such a gun is not, or should not be, covered. Perhaps one fitted permanently to a pre-1899 gun? The mind reels.
